El joven se convierte en una víctima del sistema sexo-genérico, a la vez que se transforma también en victimario. Propongo que la novela permite otra lectura en la que tenemos dos capas que se superponen: por una parte, el protagonista que se proclama diferente al resto de los hombres “salvajes”, y culmina por considerarse aliado del feminismo; y, por otra, sus propias acciones que contradicen este discurso, junto a las voces de otros personajes que constantemente confrontan sus aires triunfalistas. Se concluye que Junior, a pesar de que se cree diferente y quiere seguir cambiando, solamente logra modificaciones superficiales de su conducta. De esta forma, el relato cuestiona los límites en la idea de “nuevas masculinidades”. The novel Higiene sexual del soltero (2023) by Enzo Maqueira has been read as an education novel in which the boy Junior is forced to assume certain patriarchal mandates in the construction of his masculinity. The young man becomes a victim of the sex-gender system, while also becoming a victimizer.
